Student Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 2026
These terms govern enrolment in courses run by Nomadic User Ltd (trading as UX Academy, myuxacademy.com), a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 12004184), 49 Greek Street, London W1D 4EG. By paying a deposit you agree to these terms.
1. Definitions
- “We” / “us” / “the school” means Nomadic User Ltd, trading as UX Academy.
- “You” / “student” means the individual who has paid a deposit or enrolled in a course.
- “Course” means any live, cohort-based UX design programme offered by UX Academy.
- “Cohort” means the scheduled group of students enrolled in the same course run.
- “Deposit” means the £99 payment that reserves your place in a cohort.
- “Balance” means the remaining course fee of £1,401 (total course fee £1,500 minus the deposit).
2. Fees and payment
- The total course fee is £1,500 per course.
- A deposit of £99 is payable at the time of enrolment and is deducted from the total fee.
- The balance of £1,401 is payable either in full or via an agreed payment plan. Payment schedules are arranged in advance with the course coordinator before the cohort start date.
- Payment plans are available on request. Contact us at naveed@myuxacademy.com to agree a schedule before your cohort starts. No external finance provider is involved.
- All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of any applicable VAT unless stated otherwise.
3. Cancellation and refund policy
3.1 Cooling-off period (14 days from deposit payment)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your enrolment within 14 days of paying your deposit, without giving a reason. We will refund your deposit of £99 in full within 14 days of receiving your cancellation. To exercise this right, email naveed@myuxacademy.com with the subject line “Cancellation – [your name] – [cohort date]”.
3.2 Cancellation after the cooling-off period, before the course starts
If you cancel more than 14 days after paying your deposit but before the course start date, the deposit of £99 is forfeited. Any balance you have paid above the deposit will be refunded in full within 14 days.
3.3 Cancellation after the course has started
Once the course has started (from day 1 onwards), no refund is available. Exceptional circumstances — such as serious illness or bereavement — will be considered at Nomadic User Ltd's sole discretion. Contact us at naveed@myuxacademy.com as soon as possible if you believe exceptional circumstances apply.
3.4 Deferral to a later cohort
You may request a one-time deferral to the next available cohort of the same course, free of charge, provided your request is received at least 14 days before the cohort start date. Deferral requests received after that deadline are at Nomadic User Ltd's discretion and may not be granted. Email naveed@myuxacademy.com to request a deferral. Deferral does not reset the cancellation clock.
3.5 Cancellation by UX Academy
If we cancel a cohort for any reason, we will refund all amounts paid in full within 14 days. We will notify you by email as soon as reasonably practicable.
3.6 Changes to cohort dates by UX Academy
If we change a scheduled cohort start date, we will notify you promptly. You may either accept the new date or request a full refund of all amounts paid. Please notify us of your choice within 14 days of our notification.
4. What is included
Your course fee covers:
- All scheduled live Zoom sessions for your cohort, led by named instructors.
- Access to the student Slack workspace for the duration of your course.
- A real-world project brief worked on during the course.
- Instructor feedback on your work throughout the course.
- A UX Academy certificate of completion, issued by Nomadic User Ltd, on successful completion of the course.
The certificate of completion is issued by UX Academy (Nomadic User Ltd) and is not a regulated qualification. UX Academy is not a registered university and does not offer degree-level or accredited vocational qualifications.
5. Student responsibilities
- Attend scheduled live sessions. Recordings are made available (see section 7) but live attendance is expected and forms part of the learning experience.
- Engage actively with the course material, project briefs, and feedback.
- Behave respectfully and in accordance with the Code of Conduct (section 6) at all times.
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection and a device capable of running Zoom and Figma (or the relevant design tool for your course).
- Notify us promptly if you are unable to attend a session or foresee any difficulty completing the course.
6. Code of conduct
All students are expected to treat fellow students, instructors, and UX Academy staff with respect in all course settings, including Zoom sessions and Slack. This includes but is not limited to:
- No harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind.
- No sharing of confidential project or commercial information outside the cohort without consent.
- No recording of live sessions without prior written permission from Nomadic User Ltd.
Nomadic User Ltd reserves the right to remove a student from the course, with immediate effect and without refund (except within the statutory cooling-off period), if that student breaches the Code of Conduct in a way that, in our reasonable judgement, materially disrupts the learning environment or endangers the welfare of other students or instructors.
7. Recording policy
- Live sessions are recorded by UX Academy for the benefit of enrolled students who miss a session.
- Recordings are shared with enrolled students of that cohort only and are not made publicly available.
- Recordings are retained for 6 months after the session date, after which they are deleted.
- By enrolling, you consent to being included in recordings made during live sessions.
- Students must not record sessions independently without prior written permission from Nomadic User Ltd.
8. Data protection
Your personal data is processed by Nomadic User Ltd in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at myuxacademy.com/privacy-policy/. We process your data to administer your enrolment, deliver the course, and communicate with you about your studies. We will not share your data with third parties except where necessary to deliver the course (for example, Zoom for live sessions, Slack for the student workspace, and Stripe for payment processing) or as required by law.
9. Intellectual property
All course materials (slide decks, templates, project briefs, and recordings) are the intellectual property of Nomadic User Ltd or the respective instructors and may not be reproduced, distributed, or published without prior written permission. Work you create as part of the course is your own and you retain full ownership of it.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with any course shall not exceed the total course fee paid by you for that course. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of earnings, loss of opportunity, or loss of data.
11. Complaints
If you have a complaint about any aspect of your course or the service provided by UX Academy, please email naveed@myuxacademy.com with the subject line “Complaint – [your name]”. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and to provide a substantive response within 5 working days of receipt.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you paid your deposit is the version that applies to your enrolment. We will notify enrolled students of any material changes by email.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your statutory rights as a consumer.
