Executes on briefs
Shapes what gets built
Works alone on screens
Collaborates across functions
Defends design instincts
Justifies with evidence
Waits to be asked
Initiates design direction
Delivers to spec
Challenges the spec

With 3 years of UX design experience, the course was a great way of consolidating knowledge and putting theory into practice. Much more industry-oriented than university — we worked on a project from start to finish, building every part to create a strong portfolio piece.

A typical week

Not a video course. A live experience.

Here's what Week 3 of the course looks like in practice.

Mon

Live session

2 hrs live. Research methods and a real brief to work from.

Tue

Self-study

Reading + watch the session back. Your pace.

Wed

Drop-in

30 min optional — bring work in progress. Get unstuck.

Thu

Project work

Apply the week's methods to your client brief.

Fri

Peer review

Share work with your cohort. Give and get honest feedback.

“The Wednesday drop-ins were honestly the most valuable part. I could share my screen and my instructor would just tell me exactly what was not working.”

Design that holds up to scrutiny.

Senior designers annotate their decisions. Document your reasoning with the same rigour as the design itself.

Week 2Systems Thinking

Map component relationships and design for scale, not just the screen in front of you.

Week 3Advanced Research Methods

Run diary studies, contextual inquiry, and triangulated synthesis to surface non-obvious insights, then distil them with structured synthesis exercises.

Week 4Design Ops & Critique

Lead design critiques, establish review rituals, and scale quality across a team. Validate ideas with usability versus concept testing.

Week 5Fast Prototyping

Test risky assumptions in hours with high-fidelity Figma prototypes before committing to build. Use How-Might-We statements and advanced ideation to frame the problem.

The salary jump

Mid-level UX: £45k-£60k

Senior UX: £60k-£75k

The gap between mid-level and senior is not more years of the same work. It is stakeholder influence, systems thinking, and leading design decisions rather than responding to them.

Common questions

Ask us anything.

I'm not sure I'm creative enough for UX design.

Most of our graduates said exactly this before starting. UX is less about visual creativity and more about curiosity and empathy: understanding why people struggle with things, then figuring out how to fix it. If you have ever rewritten a confusing email, reorganised a messy drawer, or explained something complicated simply, you are already thinking like a UX designer.

Natalia Veretenyk, Lead Instructor

What if I fall behind or miss a session?

Every live session is recorded and available the same day. Life happens; we know that. If you miss something, you will catch up. The Wednesday drop-in sessions exist specifically for this: come with questions, share your screen, get unstuck. No one gets left behind in a group of 15.

Natalia Veretenyk, Lead Instructor

I have seen cheaper courses online. Why is this one different?

A cheaper course teaches you the same material. What it cannot give you is a real client project, an instructor who knows your name, or a cohort that gives you feedback on your actual work. Those are the things employers notice in your portfolio, not which platform you studied on.

Questions

Before you enrol.

Is the course online or in-person?

The course is 100% live online. You join small live classes over Zoom on Wednesday evenings (6:00 to 8:30pm UK time) from anywhere in the UK or abroad; there is no in-person attendance and no commute. Every session is recorded, so you can catch up if you miss one.

What experience level is this for?

You should have at least 3 years of dedicated UX design experience working inside a team or client-facing role. If you have strong UI skills but no UX experience, the Beginner course may be a better starting point.

Will this repeat what I already know?

Not if you have real professional experience. The course assumes you can already run a usability test and deliver a wireframe. It focuses on the skills that differentiate senior designers: stakeholder communication, systems thinking, and design leadership.

How much time per week?

One live session per week (Wednesday evenings, 6:00 to 8:30pm UK time) plus 3 to 4 hours of project work. Budget 5 to 6 hours per week total across 6 weeks.

What is the refund policy?

The £99 deposit is refundable within 14 days of booking. Cancel after that but before the course starts and the deposit is forfeited, though any balance you have paid is refunded in full. Once the course has started no refund is available, except at our discretion in exceptional circumstances.

Is there a scholarship?

Yes. 30% scholarship for designers from underrepresented groups. Apply on the scholarship page.

What makes this different from reading books or watching talks?

Application. The course forces you to use the frameworks on your actual work, in front of an instructor and peers who give direct feedback.

Is a UX Academy certificate recognised by employers?

UX Academy certificates do not expire and are outcomes-focused: each one names the live project you completed, the skills you demonstrated, and the instructor who assessed your work. Employers verify quality through your portfolio and the specificity of what you built, not the name on the certificate.

Who is the advanced UX design course for?

The Advanced UX Design course is for practising UX/UI designers with 3+ years of professional experience who feel like they have hit a ceiling: they can execute a brief but struggle to get stakeholder buy-in, lead design critiques, or shape what gets built rather than just responding to it. It is not a beginner introduction: if you have fewer than 3 years of hands-on UX experience, the Beginner UX (AI) Design course is the right starting point.
